No. Most members join without knowing anyone beforehand. A simple enquiry is all it takes to start a conversation.
No. Freemasonry is not a religion and does not replace one. It welcomes men of all faiths who hold a belief in a Supreme Being.
Members are expected to attend meetings where they can, take part in the Lodge's fellowship, and uphold its values of integrity, charity and respect.
Yes — there are annual subscriptions and dining costs. These are discussed openly and clearly before you join.
Yes. Before joining, you'll have the chance to meet members socially and speak openly about Freemasonry and the Lodge. This is usually followed by one or more informal interviews as part of the normal enquiry process — a private Lodge meeting itself is reserved for members, so you won't attend one until you've been initiated.
Commitment is flexible. The Lodge meets a handful of times each year, and you attend what you can.
Smart attire — a jacket and tie is a safe choice. We'll always confirm what's appropriate in advance. (Regalia is worn by members at Lodge meetings and isn't something you'll need until after you've joined.)
